Holland Norway Lines introduces a cruise-ferry line for passengers and vehicles from Eemshaven in the Netherlands to the Norwegian Kristiansand. From this week on,it is possible for interested parties to book their trip. The first crossing is expected to take place in April 2022. The new route will connect the Northern Netherlands and Southern Norway regions through a modern cruise-ferry which ensures a comfortable crossing.
The initiators of Holland Norway Lines (HNL) and the shipowner Tallink are both experienced parties in the logistics and shipping industry. Bart Cunnen, CEO of HNL, speaks ofan interesting market potential thatis preceded by through market research in both Norway and the Netherlands. “Here we speak of a potential for further addition to the market”. HNL offers new possibilities to reach the Netherlands and Norway in a simple and comfortable way. HNL makes both regions stronger and connects theNetherlands with Scandinavia and fits within the vision for sustainable tourism.
In the Eemshaven port in Groningen (Beatrixhaven) on a location of 6-8 ha, a special roro-quay with bridge will soon be constructed. Besides this, there will be an office for the employees who will handle the departures and arrivals of various trips. The expectation is that this new cruise ferry line will initially provide 50 new jobs, with a possible extension to 100 jobs.
The cruise ferry shipMS Romantikathat will sail on the Eemshaven-Kristiansand route, is equipped with the latest and most sustainable techniques and systems. The ship will not only carry passengers, but also cars (including campers/caravans) and trucks. Three times a week the MS Romantika departs from Eemshaven at 3:00 PM and arrives –after a comfortable night on board –at 9:00 AM in Kristiansand. There is also a return trip to the Netherlands, which also departs 3 times a week. The ship has a variety of restaurants, cafes, (tax-free) shops and entertainment. There are extensive possibilities for companies to transport cargo from and to the Netherlands and Norway in a safe and fast way. The price for a return ticket including the overnight stay is between 600 and 900 euros including a car. “Competitive prices; your holiday starts immediately on board of the ship, moreover, you’ll arrive well rested at the port to continue your journey!” according to Cunnen.
Last year, Holland Norway Lines, together with partners in the public and privatesector, started the initiative to set up a shipping connection between Eemshaven in Groningen and the port of Kristiansand in Norway. The initiative is realized with the support of Groningen Seaports, the Northern Development Agency (NOM), the province ofGroningen and the municipality Hogeland.
